Pursuant to the requirements of Section 118 of the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) and the supplemental guidance of Title 20 of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 661.355, the Riverside County Economic Development Agency (EDA) as the local administrative entity for WIA, published its initial Local Five-Year Strategic Plan in March 2000. Per State Level guidance, four one-year extensions to the five-year plan were granted to Local Workforce Investment Areas via modifications for Program Year (PY) 2005/06, 2006/07, 2007/08 and 2008/09. An additional extension was granted to the Local Workforce Investment Board for PY 2009/10. Riverside County has now published its draft of the fifth extension and modification to the Five-Year Strategic Local Plan for PY 2009/2010. The plan modification is available for review at the link below.
Highlighted and bolded sections of the 2009/10 modification reflect items requiring changes or items not submitted in the initial five-year plan and/or prior modifications. Additionally, the Workforce Investment Act/Wagner Peyser Act American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 Local Plan and EDA’s local plan for California Integrated Services Delivery are included in the 2009/10 modification.

The Riverside County EDA and the Workforce Investment Board will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, April 21, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. at the Southwest Workforce Development Center, 30135 Technology Drive, Murrieta, CA 92563, at which time, all comments received will be discussed. Public comments will be submitted to the State Employment Development Department Workforce Services Division with the final plan modification.
